Learnig To Trust

Bible reading: Jeremiah 9:4 – 9

Step 3: We made a decision to turn our lives and our wills over to the care of God.

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship.” (Romans 12:1)

Principle 3: Consciously choose to commit all of my life and will to Christ care and control.

“Happy are the meek.” (Matthew 5:8)

Most of the snow the pain caused by deceit, both for the deceiver and the one who has been betrayed. We may be trying to learn to trust again after living in situations where we haven’t been given any reason to trust.

David cried, “Lord! Help! Godly men are fast disappearing. Where in all the world can dependable men be found? Everyone deceives and flatters and lies. There is no sincerity left. But the Lord will not diligently with… Those problems who say, ‘we will lie to our hearts’ content. Our lips are our own; who can stop us?’” (Psalms 12:1 – 4).

Jeremiah prophesied, “Beware of your neighbor! Beware of your brother! All take advantage of one another and spread the slanderous lies. With practice tongues they fool and defraud each other; they were themselves out with all their sinning. ‘They pile evil upon people, lie upon lie, and utterly refuse to come to me,’ says the Lord. Therefore the Lord Almighty says this: ‘See, I will melt them in a crucible of affliction. I will refine them and test them like metal.’” (Jeremiah 9:4 – 8).

When we turn our lives over to God, we should try to give him our trust as well. He understands that this will be hard. Our trust in God can be absolute. Trusting people should be cautious; it should only be placed in those who have proven themselves trustworthy.

Trust is only as worthy as its object; trusting God is always a wise bet.

Hope

Do not be discouraged…

Few experiences are of less value to me then fast sobriety. Too many times discouragement has been the bonus for unrealistic expectations, not to mention self-pity or fatigue from of wanting to change the world by the weekend. Discouragement is a warning signal that I may have wandered across the God line. The secret of fulfilling my potential is in acknowledging my limitations and believing that time is a gift, not a threat.

Hope is the key that unlocks the door of discouragement. The program promises me that if I do not pick up the 1st drink today, I will always have hope. Having come to believe that I keep what I share, every time I encourage, I receive courage. It is with others that, with the grace of God and the fellowship of Celebrate Recovery, I trudge the road of happy destiny. May I always remember that the Power within me is far greater than any fear before me. May I always have patience, for I am on the right road.
